Unless you have arrived from the planet Pluto, you are quite aware that the current unemployment rate is at an all-time high.
The good news is that many people, who were hit with the pink slip months ago, are now going back to work.
However, the bad news is that there are still far too others who are coping with job loss, and see no hope of finding work any time soon.
If you are one of those people, my heart goes out to you.
Yet, in spite of your current challenge, things are not as bad as they appear.
In fact, whether you realize it not, you are in for a wonderful experience.
The Happiest Day of Your Life Losing your job was the happiest day of your life.
At this point, you're probably asking yourself, "How in the world could losing my job be the happiest day of my life?" Just think for a moment.
Being employed felt safe, and it helped pay the bills.
It kept you fed, housed, and comfortable.
It gave you purpose, and something constructive to do everyday.
However, what it also gave you was a false sense of security, meager earnings, abundant stress, and too little time to spend with your family.
The negative points far outweigh the positive points about holding down a job.
When you had a job, life was uncertain and hopeless at best.
But, now that you are out of a job, the possibilities of achieving greatness are endless.
You can now follow your heart far better at this time than at any other point in your working life.
So, losing your job was indeed the happiest day of your life.
Freedom is on the Horizon By freedom, I'm not merely referring to your free time.
The freedom, in this case, is the independence to make choices for your life that overcome the negative effects of job restrictions.
You have the freedom to dress as you wish.
You can do more of the things that you love.
You can see more of your children.
You can choose to be your own boss.
More importantly, you can do whatever you please without the fear of a reprimand or unpleasant consequences.
You're free.
No more blood-sucking bosses.
No more idiot co-workers.
No more crybaby customers or clients.
No more forced overtime.
Doesn't that feel wonderful? The Romance Begins Are you in love with life? Most people say that they are.
However, if you take a good look at many of them at work, you'll notice that they are not having a romance with their jobs.
In fact, they look very unhappy.
When the weekend approaches, they count down the minutes until closing time on Friday.
When the weekend ends, they begin the new work week with dragging feet.
Romance is not measured by your days off from your job.
It is measured by the sickness that you feel when you are separated from that which you love.
Just think about how miserable you feel when you don't get to see your children.
Now, that's true romance.
The same applies to non-living things.
The day you lost your job is the day that the romance began.
And, it feels great.
Win Friends and Influence People Everybody loves to have friends.
In fact, we need friends in order to live a meaningful life.
You can go through life without friends, but doing so creates cynicism and mistrust.
Yet, it's very likely that you weren't friends with your co-workers.
You got along with them, and at times probably even laughed and went to lunch with them.
But, at the end of the day, you went your way, and they went theirs.
They didn't share you dreams, your goals, or even your thoughts.
They commiserated about how much they hated the company, and invited you to join them.
However, if you didn't want to complain, they avoided you like the plague.
They were false-friends Now, your co-workers are gone, and you can begin making real friends.
These are people who believe in you, and support who you are.
Now, how's that for coping with job loss? It's a Wonderful Life It's indeed a wonderful life.
There's so much to look forward to.
The sun shines more brightly everyday.
You have liberty, happiness, and peace of mind.
The challenge of being out of work will remain for awhile, but it will soon vanish.
Better days are coming, and pleasant circumstances are right around the corner.
You are in for a wonderful experience.
