The idea of sourcing can be very intimidating at first, especially if you're on a budget. When you are just getting started selling on Amazon, you want to get profitable products to sell using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). But you're probably not sure where to start?

You Don't Need Thousands of Dollars to Get Started

I'd like to encourage you today! If you are sitting on the fence and are not sure about how to source or how to get started with sending your products to Amazon FBA, then this post is for you.

You may be surprised! Some of the most profitable items are lying right under your nose. NOT to mention many resources, tools, and educational opportunities out there that will help you become a FBA Rock star, BUT the good thing is€¦you don't need the fee-based tools when you are just getting started.

Start Looking Around the House

The best place to start looking for products is around your house. I'll give you a few examples of things I started with around my house. We started with video games, DVDs, books, stainless steel cookware, an espresso coffee maker etc€¦A lot of these were new.

As a matter of fact, all of the examples below were never used and never opened. The price is what we're listing them on Amazon for. **Please note that these pictures are of similar items.**

Travel Cooler & Warmer - $77.00

Video Gaming System - $35.00

Espresso Coffee Maker - $35.00

Glass Cake Dome Set - $24.95

Tie Dye Kit - $17.50

German Stainless Steel Cookware - $177.00

Now it's your turn! Start looking on your bookshelf, in your hall closet, your entertainment center and your garage. I can assure you that there are some gems around there. My suggestion is to start with media items because they're easy to ship and the profit margins are high. Check anything that has a barcode.

Try to gather as close to 100 items as possible. Now I'm not saying if you don't have 100 items you can't send your stuff to FBA. If you only have 20 items, then you can send that. No problem. Just grab your items, sit down and pull up the Amazon.com website and start doing research.

In order to make a fair profit, I like to send in items that are priced no less than $10. Of course, I'm referring to items that I get from around the house, purchase for a low cost or get for free. I prefer higher profit margins so I look for specific items to sell on Amazon FBA based on my research and other criteria.

When you go to Amazon.com, type your UPC barcode number into the Amazon search bar and see what the lowest prices are for FBA sellers. In case you didn't know, Amazon itself and other FBA sellers are your competition, not 3rd party merchants who ship out products themselves.

When you use FBA, you have many advantages and you can sell great products at premium prices. A great way to find out how many FBA sellers is to click on the new price list and check the box to see €Offers with FREE Shipping By Amazon'. This list will show you only FBA sellers and you can analyze the prices accordingly.

Set aside anything you can sell for $10 or more; put it in a special box to become part of your first shipment to the FBA Warehouse.

So what are you waiting for? Start sourcing at home today! Just in case you don't have enough items around the house to send in€¦no worries, on the next post we'll talk about gearing up for your very first scouting trip.

Take Care and Happy Selling!
