I Hope You Dance

Life is about choices.
Every moment of every day you either consciously make a choice or a choice is made for you.
Many times a person isn't aware of this and simply accepts life as it is dealt them.
But there is always a choice, and the ability to make a choice is your greatest power.
There's a wonderful song often sung by many artists including LeeAnn Womack - the title of this newsletter.
Some of the lyrics captured my thoughts about this topic so I thought writing them here so you can read them might allow them to soak into your heart.
"I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed Chorus: I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance, I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance...
When you come close to selling out, reconsider Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.
" I believe that life is a wondrous adventure into the unknown, and is so exciting it should leave you in a constant state of wonderment.
But if you look at the faces of most people you don't see excitement.
Instead, a scowl often crosses their face or their eyes reflect fatigue and/or fear.
But life isn't meant to be lived that way.
And the amazing thing is that all you need do is change your perception and what you see becomes an entirely different view.
What would your day look like if you knew it was your last day on this earth? How would you spend it? What would you say to people? Who would you spend it with? Would you forgive those people whom you believe have hurt you? Would you tell someone how much you love them? Would you do something you enjoy doing? So why is today any different than it would be then? Of course it's different.
You have many responsibilities, like going to work to take care of yourself, your family, and of course your expenses for just living in this world of ours.
But where is your excitement and enthusiasm? What happened to your sense of wonderment and anticipation? Why should that be any different on any given day? Problems appear.
Challenges plague us.
Situations arise that feel stressful.
We feel pain.
Yet every day is an amazing gift.
So many good things happen every day but often people focus on what doesn't feel good, missing the whole point of what they're being taught.
Or perhaps they're so wrapped up in the drama of what they perceive they overlook the many blessings that are continually given to them.
So individuals get bogged down with their thoughts and behavior and simply see themselves defeated, overwhelmed, struggling, unhappy, stressed and sometimes feel like giving up.
And when they focus on those negative thoughts, an amazing thing happens - they receive back more situations just like the thoughts they were thinking! Yep, we call that the Universal Law of Cause and Effect, commonly known as the Law of Attraction! That is not a constructive life.
We have the opportunity to get up and dance! It means letting fear go so you can see the wonderment of each and every day.
Stop worrying - worrying about something has never fixed anything! If a door closes, know that another will soon open.
You see, it is always necessary to get rid of the old in order to make room for the new.
And my belief, which has proven true numerous times in my life, says that if a door closes it is for my good, and when the new door opens it will be even better.
And without fail, that has always held true for me.
Why do people sit on the sidelines rather than dance? Is it because they can't dance well so are afraid people will make fun of them? Are they without a partner so feel alone or unloved? Are they worn out without energy to move? Are they waiting for someone to ask them to dance? Do they fear people and although they really want to socialize are afraid to do so? What is stopping them from getting up to dance? Dancing is fun.
Dancing is invigorating.
Dancing is freeing.
Dancing is great exercise.
Dancing allows people into your life, new and not so new.
Dancing uplifts your spirit.
So what do you think is the best choice here? Is it better to live life sitting on the sidelines? Does sitting on the sidelines uplift your spirit, free you to be who you are, invigorate your mind, body and spirit, or allow you to interact with others? Of course it doesn't.
It keeps you stuck, restrained, unconnected, confined, feeling deprived, and possibly feeling unworthy of all good.
So what I'm telling you is to get up and dance.
Grab life with gusto and enjoy every minute of it.
An exciting life has nothing to do with other people; it only has to do with what you feel inside your heart and what you do with it.
I heard James Arthur Ray from the movie "The Secret" state recently that there are three things needed to receive harmonic wealth, and harmonic wealth refers to all dimensions: health, relationships, opportunities, success, finances, and so on.
The three things you need are simply thoughts (the vision or intention), feelings (adding the desire or passion) and action (getting up and moving).
Many people have a vision or idea, and some even take it to the next level by feeling passionate about what they do or wish to do, but then many sit and wait, afraid to move, and thus the action doesn't happen and the idea slips away.
You have a choice.
It's really that simple - you must make a choice.
Do you want to sit on the sidelines or get up and dance? Sure, you can go to the dance, even mingle with people, ingest some refreshments, but if you don't dance you miss out on the main part of the event, the whole point of being there.
So many people pass through life and never feel their life an awesome experience, so they miss out on the main part of the event, the whole point of being here.
I want to leave this with you.
Make every day a glorious adventure, a day that beckons to you to drink it up and savor every drop of it.
When something comes your way that doesn't feel good, smile right on through it because you know there's a gift in there somewhere and it's actually going to be for your good.
If you greet each day with anticipation and wonder instead of dragging yourself out of bed and dreading the day, you will be amazed how awesome your day can be.
Put a song in your heart, or perhaps a song on your lips, and wear a smile instead of a frown.
And most importantly remember that whatever comes from within you is what will continually show up in your life.
So do you want to dance?
