How to Use ReadIRIS Pro 11
- 1). Install Readiris Pro 11 from the CD or downloaded copy. Install all the linguistic databases that you intend to scan as well as the sample images in the tutorial.
- 2). Start Readiris Pro by clicking on "I.R.I.S. Applications -- Readiris" in the Program menu or use the shortcut if you installed it.
- 3). Configure the scanner by clicking on "Settings" in the main menu and then "Scanner" in the drop down menu that appears. Modify the other options that are available to suit your scanning needs. Always use a scanning resolution of 300 dpi unless the print size is smaller than 10 point or with degraded text, in which case use 400 dpi.
- 4). Click "Scan" in the left-hand menu and select the Source, either Scanner or Image files.
- 5). Click the "Recognize-Save" button once scanning has completed, and the OCR process will begin. Make editing changes to correct OCR errors if necessary. Once you have made a correction, select "Learn" to reduce the likelihood of a similar error.
- 6). Save the result to a file. An RTF format for Word 97 is the default, but other options are available.
