It"s Pride
Definition of PRIDE Pride is an inordinate self-esteem; an unreasonable conceit of one's own superiority in talents, beauty, wealth, accomplishments, rank or elevation in office, which manifests itself in lofty airs, distance, reserve, and often in contempt of others.
Synonyms for pride: haughty, lofty, arrogant, bigheadedness, egotism, honor, elite, self-importance, self-love, vanity, vain, be proud of, boast, brag, congratulate oneself, flatter oneself, glory in, take pride in.
The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I feel the difference of what sin does to my heart.
When sin seeps into my heart, it is like a poison to my soul.
I can go from having a joyful heart to having a heavy burden in my heart in no time at all.
I hate it.
I can't stand it.
Sometimes the pain feels too much to bear.
It is such a breech in my spirit that it totally consumes me mind, body, and soul.
I can't operate right when I know I have hidden sin.
I know that there is a reason for this heavy burden, pain, and turmoil on my heart.
God is working on making me a new creation and giving me a new heart that doesn't like sin anymore.
It is very painful process when you begin to realize that there is sin in your heart.
It is probably the hardest realization that you will have in life.
The pain, agony, stress, and turmoil that comes from realizing sin on your heart and admitting to God and the people you have offended is very hard especially if the sin has been sitting there for a while.
The process may be long, painful, and sometimes drawn out more than you would have liked but it feels so good when it's over.
You feel so much better and lighter when it's done, and you grow stronger.
As much as my flesh doesn't want to be shown my sin, God makes my heart want to be shown my sin so I can grow stronger and healthier spiritually.
I have started to hate the sin more because I can't stand taking the poison.
The magnitude of my own sin against God and all the consequences that result from my sin are getting harder and harder to swallow each time.
The clean-up process is also getting harder and harder as I pick up the pieces from the destruction my sin has caused myself and others.
When sin enters your heart, it begins to leak poison in you, and the only way you can keep it from overtaking your body and causing an epidemic is to cry out to God in repentance for help, forgiveness, and mercy.
Pride is usually the root cause of most sin in our lives.
Examples of the sin of pride include:
Proverbs 6:16-19 - 16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
He will punish it! Isaiah 13:11 - And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Leviticus 26:19 - And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: Repenting of Pride 1) Submit yourself to God- Get back under His authority and repent of your sins.
2) Resist the Devil- Purpose in our heart not to defile yourself any longer, earn and quote scripture as temptations arise.
3) Draw near to God- Spend extra time in His word and in prayer, do self-examination of your sin and its consequences to your own life and others.
4) Cleanse your Hands of Sin- Stop any activity that causes you to continue in sin, no matter how drastic (avoid places, avoid situations that promote your sin, change jobs, get rid of internet, TV, etc.
) Also, cleanse your hands of sin by humbling yourself and admitting your sin to those you have offended.
This is very important to gain a clear conscience and freedom from the cycle of your sin.
5) Purify your heart of double mindedness- James Chapter one warns us not to ask God for things were not really sure we want him to give us.
Ask yourself do I really want God to humble me? Do I really want to change? Do I really want to deal with the pain, humiliation and, consequences of my sin? Do I really want to be holy? Do I really want to hate sin and love the things of God?

- Extravagance
- Wrongful priorities with self, OUR APPEARANCE (hair gel in men, worldly look at me tight clothes, makeup etc.
) - Difficulty showing love to others
- Difficulty forgiving others
- Pride will steal your joy
- Pride will ignite anger in you
- Pride will allow you to destroy your family, your marriage, and relationships
- When I'm not trusting God
- When I fear the future
- When I'm holding something against somebody
- Whenever I think I have the right to do something
- When I think I have control over a situation, or a person
- When I think I should be in control- I'm saying my own opinion is worth more than Gods or anyone else's.
- When I worry- I'm telling God His plan isn't good enough for me to trust in
- When I think I deserve more in life- title, money, promotion, bigger house, better car
- When I place myself higher than others and belittle them and treat them as if they aren't worthy to be in my presence
- Pride assures us were not so bad and that our sins aren't so bad
- Pride tells us our sin is not really sin but normal, that everyone else does it
- Pride will make us agree to assistance or help for our sin but not surrender of our sin
- Pride will make us act very respectable and moral on the outside so that the world, our friends, our family, and even our self won't have to deal with the reality of our sinful misconduct and the negative attitudes of disgust, hurt, harshness, and uproar that will result from the truth being known.
- Pride will struggle to do better, it will make us cry over our sin, but not free us from our sins destruction
- Pride doesn't understand the reason God calls us sinners
- Pride will not give God his rightful place in our lives- it will allow us to continue to put family, friends, hobbies, and entertainment first- especially the TV (just get rid of the broadcast TV- repent from watching all the filthiness on it, save your soul and your families! Call the cable company and cancel it! Replace it with wholesome DVDs you can control and family bible studies.
) - Pride allows life to revolve around ourselves
- Pride leads to a reprobate mind- when we have dethroned God and put ourselves in his place we stop seeing sin in our lives
- Pride keeps self on the throne- sin rules by keeping our self in the center of our life not God
- Pride enslaves us in the sin Christ came to free us from
