How to Love a Friend Like Family
- 1). Spend quality time with your friend as often as you desire. Loving relatives often share their leisure time together, on weekends or evenings, just hanging out and being together. You do not need to plan this time -- close families often just enjoy being together.
- 2). Add your friend to family get-togethers and gatherings, including him on the guest list along with all the uncles, aunts and cousins.
- 3). Share meals with your friend. Invite your friend over for meals or go out for meals together regularly.
- 4). Talk often with your special buddy. This can be especially important if you do not live near your friend. Spend time on the telephone, communicate by email, chat on instant messengers and use video conferencing programs on the computer. Close family members usually maintain regular contact to stay involved in each other's lives.
- 5). Celebrate holidays and birthdays with your friend. Many people reserve the important holidays for family. If you have elevated your friend to family-status, try to share these significant days with your friend. Include your friend in your family celebration or attend family celebrations with your friend's family.
- 6). Support your friend through both positive and negative situations. Celebrate the triumphs and be there to help when your friend needs you. Just as relatives often help each other during difficulty, be willing to provide whatever help you can when necessary. Similarly, expect the same support from your friend as you experience the highs and lows of life.
