    • 1). Cut plywood pieces 3 feet by 8 feet to make the bottom and the lid of the coffin.

    • 2). Cut two pieces of the plywood 3 feet by 1 foot for the ends of the box. Cut the two sides of the coffin 1 foot by 8 1/4 feet.

    • 3). Place a 3-by-8-foot board on a flat, solid surface. Place an end piece for the coffin in a vertical manner at the end of the board at a 90-degree angle.

    • 4). Apply carpenter's glue to the place where the boards meet. Lock the boards together by drilling two nails through them.

    • 5). Glue the other end piece to the opposite side of the 3-by-8 board in the same way. Put two wood nails into each corner. This completes the base and end of the coffin.

    • 6). Lock the 1-by-8 1/4-foot boards to the sides of the coffin frame. Secure them with wood screws.

    • 7). Turn the coffin over and fasten two hinges on one side.

    • 8). Slide the remaining 3-by-8-foot piece for the lid onto the coffin and fasten the hinges.

    • 9). Paint or stain the coffin. You may want to age the coffin by rubbing it with steel wool or add a headstone with lettering and drape it with cobwebs and plastic spiders.
