Star In A Reasonably Priced Car!

As a fan of Top Gear I love the aptly named feature, Star in a reasonably priced car. Celebrities complete a lap of Top Gears test track in a reasonably priced car. Last series the test was done in the Kia Ceed! The top three competitors of the last series were Rowan Atkinson, John Bishop and Ross Noble. Rather embarrassingly John Prescott came at the very bottom of the table. Indeed he has the slowest competitor since the Kia Ceed has been choice of Volkswagen Dealer car. So which other celebrities have taken part and how did they fair up?

For series 1-7 the reasonably priced car was the Suzuki Liana! Of all laps completed in the Suzuki Liana, Dame Ellen MacArthur claimed the top spot with a time of 1m 46.7! As a lady who has became famous for a solo circumnavigation of the globe, it is hardly surprising that she found driving a small car round a track relatively easy and perhaps even a little tedious. She beat Jimmy Carr by 0.2 seconds and managed to put Simon Cowell into third place. Rather amusingly Richard Whitely and Terry Wogan managed to come at the bottom of the heap with only two seconds between them. Wogan just beating Whitely.

I was after purchasing a cheap to run car for my commute to and from London every day as my current BMW X5 is costing me over 250 per week in Petrol costs. I visited my local car dealers and looked at what cars they had to offer under my required category. I looked at the new Skoda Roomster, the new Ford Ka but the Suzuki Liana was by far the most eco-friendly car out of all of them as it produced nearly 47 miles to the gallon on its test drive.

In series 8 the Suzuki Liana was replaced with the Chevrolet Lacetti. Jay Kay claimed top position with a time of 1m.45.8seconds. Cowell may have beaten his previous time but he was positioned at fourth with Kevin McCloud beating him to third position. Who was at the bottom? Well it was actually Jimmy Carr. His car spun off during the lap and so he didnt finish!
