The team's general manager, Paul Holmgren, is very pleased with Stevens' work and what he has accomplished as well as the relationships he has established with various players.

Stevens' work has put the Flyers at 16-13-3 and is currently tied for the ninth spot within the Eastern Conference.
Just a year ago the team went through a very bad time being considered the worse team in the league and had their worst season in franchise history situation which kept them out of the playoffs for the first time since 1994, an entire thirteen years record was broken.
During that horrible season the Flyers set records for most losses and fewer points in the league.
Stevens was then hired in October as a replacement for Ken Hitchcock who had been fired.
At that time; Stevens went 21-42-11 for the team.
Stevens as well the team is very much relieved to know he will be with them for at least one more year.
The uncertainty is somewhat distracting but it didn't stop him from doing a very good job and now he is extremely excited and pleased to continue to work with the Flyers and has his mind set in wanting to stay in Philadelphia for many years to come.
Some of his accomplishments in the past include; winning the Calder Cup in 2005 with the Philadelphia Phantom's where he also led the team to a 4-7-1 record in their first twelve games.
The Phantom's offered him a two-year contract but he chose to take the challenge with the Flyers hoping to continue to grow and take the team back to their high standards.
Their next performance will be at home and is scheduled for Thursday, December 27th at 7pm against Toronto.
