How to Flash Your DS With M3
- 1). Download a custom firmware program from a Nintendo modification website, for example, the Flashme stealth firmware program (see Resources). Double-click on the file's icon when it has fully downloaded to decompress it to a folder on the desktop. Restart the PC.
- 2). Insert the MicroSD card into the card slot of the USB MicroSD adapter. Plug the USB MicroSD adapter into a USB port on a PC. Wait for the icon of the MicroSD card to appear on the desktop.
- 3). Right-click on the icon of the MicroSD card. Select "Format" from the pop-up menu.
- 4). Click on the "Format" button in the window that appears. Clicl on the "Done" button when the confirmation window appears.
- 5). Double-click on the folder that was just decompressed to open its window. Double-click on the custom firmware installation program inside of the folder to launch it.
- 6). Select the MicroSD card from the 'Devices" drop down menu on the custom firmware installation program's main screen.
- 7). Click on the "Start" or "Go" button on the custom firmware installation program's main screen. Wait as the program writes the custom firmware to the MicroSD card. Quit the custom firmware installation program when the confirmation window appears to say that it is finished.
- 8). Right-click on the icon of the MicroSD card. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.
- 9). Remove the USB MicroSD adapter from the USB port of the PC. Remove the MicroSD card from the card slot on the USB MicroSD adapter.
- 1). Put the bath towel down on a table. Close the lid of the Nintendo DS. Plug the electrical power supply into the Nintendo DS power port. Plug the electrical power supply into an AC socket.
- 2). Put the Nintendo DS face down on the bath towel. Remove the screw from the battery cover using the Phillip's jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the battery cover.
- 3). Wrap a piece of aluminum foil around one of the ends of the toothpick.
- 4). Insert the aluminum foil-covered toothpick end into the left most hole inside of the battery compartment's bottom edge.
- 5). Hold the aluminum foil-covered toothpick end in the hole for five to seven seconds. Remove the aluminum foil-covered toothpick.
- 6). Put the battery cover back onto the battery compartment. Reattach the screw to the battery cover with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
- 7). Insert the MicroSD card into the slot on the M3 cartridge adapter. Plug the M3 cartridge adapter into the DS game slot on the Nintendo DS. Turn on the Nintendo DS.
- 8). Wait for the menu to appear on the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS. Select the custom firmware program copied from the computer from the list of choices. Press the "X" button to activate the custom firmware program.
- 9). Press the control buttons as indicated by the program to install the custom firmware.

Turn off the Nintendo DS when the program says it has completed. Remove the M3 cartridge adapter from the DS game slot.
