How to Upgrade 512MB DDR Ram in iMac G4s
- 1). Turn off the iMac, unplug the power source and disconnect all peripheral devices. Relocate the iMac to a flat, padded surface. Lay the iMac with the screen facing downward on the surface.
- 2). Loosen the four Phillips head screws on the metal plate situated on the bottom of the computer's base. Remove the bottom plate to reveal the two memory modules inside the computer. Touch the metal surface inside the computer to discharge static electricity from your body.
- 3). Peel away the plastic protecting the memory modules, and spread apart the retaining latches securing the top module in place. Tilt the module upward at a 45-degree angle, and pull the module from its memory socket. Repeat this for all modules you remove from the computer.
- 4). Place the replacement 512 MB memory module into an empty socket at an upward 45-degree angle. Press the module into the socket until it snaps into place. Press down on the module until it lays flat inside the memory module compartment. Repeat this for each module you install.
- 5). Replace the bottom plate and the four retaining Phillips screws. Relocate the computer to your desk or work table. Reconnect all cables and devices, and turn on the iMac.
