How to Take the Spare Tire out of a 1994 Ford Explorer
- 1). Remove the two metal rods from the storage compartment located in the floor, behind the rear passenger seats. Connect them by inserting one into the end of the other.
- 2). Remove the tire iron from the storage compartment located above the left, rear tire.
- 3). Insert one end of the metal rod into the small hole above the license plate and slip the tire iron onto the other end. Twist the tire iron counterclockwise to lower the spare.
- 4). Turn the retainer located at the end of the cable sideways with your hand and slip it through the hole to remove the tire.
