How to Fix the CD Player in a 1997 Blazer
- 1). Power on your 1997 Chevrolet Blazer and look to see if any other device in the vehicle fails to function correctly. This may be your clock or the cigarette electrical outlet. If these do not work it means you have a blown fuse. Access the fuse compartment under the steering wheel and remove the stereo fuse. The fuse is going to look black or cracked. Insert a replacement fuse and all the equipment works again.
- 2). Spray a few shots of compressed air into the CD player. If all inserted CDs are skipping it means there is dust collected on the reading lens. Spraying the compressed air removes the dust, allowing you to properly listen to your inserted music.
- 3). Slide a flathead screwdriver into the CD player if you have a CD stuck in the drive. Slide the screwdriver under the CD towards the rear of the player, then press up slightly. This often automatically ejects the CD, but if not grab the front of the CD with a pair of needle-nose pliers and pull out to eject the CD.
- 4). Turn down the volume in your Chevrolet Blazer. If the volume is too high the speakers are going to wear out and begin to play a raspy noise during playback.
