How to Cut Kitchen Countertops
- 1). Place the countertop on two sawhorses.
- 2). Clamp the countertop to the sawhorses.
- 3). Drill a 1/2-inch hole through the countertop using an electric drill equipped with a spade bit. The hole must be cut into the portion of the countertop that is to be removed. The hole will act as an access point for the saw blade.
- 4). Equip a saber saw with a laminate blade. This type of blade is specifically equipped to minimize chipping the portion of the countertop that is not being cut out.
- 5). Place a piece of wood or some other object underneath the portion of the countertop you want to remove. The object should rest securely under that portion of the countertop. Supporting the countertop in this way will prevent it from breaking under the weight of the portion that is being removed.
- 6). Insert the saber-saw blade into the 1/2-inch hole, then begin the cut.
