Purchase two window frames. Look at salvage yards and garage sales for inexpensive frames.

    • 2). Remove the glass panes from the window frame. Lay the window frame on a towel and cover the glass with another towel. Tap the glass with a hammer until it breaks. Pull back the top towel and carefully remove the glass fragments. Dispose of the glass directly into the outside trash can to prevent cuts when taking out the garbage.

    • 3). Replace the glass with mirrors. Ask the mirror retailer to cut the mirrors to fit the window panes. Set the mirror into the frame and secure with window points, which are sharp metal triangles that sit flush against the mirror; the sharp point gets pushed into the wood of the window frame to hold the mirror secure.

    • 4). Attach hoop style picture hangers to all four corners of the window frame. Hang the window frame on the slanted dormer walls by fastening a screw through the hoop on the picture hanger and into the wall. Make sure the screw head is too large to fit through the hoop on the picture hanger so the window frame stays flush against the wall.

    Reading nook

    • 1). Look for a bench that fits into the space between the slanted walls and below the window. Shop at thrift stores and garage sales and look for piano benches. Take a tape measure so you know what fits the space and what doesn't fit before you bring it home.

    • 2). Drape a lap blanket off the edge of the bench.

Fill the bench with an assortment of throw pillows in various sizes.

    • 4). Stack books below the bench for easy access.
