    Cleaning up the Clutter

    • 1). Take cleanliness into account. If the attic is not clean, not only does this make the space extremely unappealing to spend time in, but it is also a serious health hazard. You must clean from wall to wall, top to bottom inside and out.

    • 2). Depending on the intensity of sterilization that is needed to clean, you will want to adjust your cleaning solutions to the task. at hand. If your attic needs a heavy duty cleaning you may want to consider home cleaning remedies. These home cleaning remedies generally are pure and of a greater strength than the products that are on the market. These home remedies can range from baking soda to apple cider vinegar.     • 3). If you are dealing with a serious case of mildew, you must tackle the issue. Mildew will get worse over time and will spread, not only is this a health hazard but is not very pleasing on the eye. To stop mildew in its tracks put on some protective gear (gloves, protective goggles), and apply bleach to the affected area with a sponge. Allow the bleach to sit for 30 minutes then rinse away with TSP solution.

    • 4). If you're turning the attic space into storage area, invest in quality storage bins and boxes. Having heavy duty storage bins will prevent irreversible damage over time. Thankfully this does not require a large investment, as storage bins and containers are fairly inexpensive and are pleasing to the eye. No matter how much clutter lies within those bins and containers, the look will be streamlined and organized.

    Living Space

    • 1). Paint trimmings and the ceiling white. Trimmings are the frame for your window, the crown molding, chair rail and base. Painting trimmings and the ceiling white provide a sophisticated and streamlined look.

    • 2). When bringing furniture into the room always reconsider what you need, and what is just taking up space. It is easy to get caught up and over-accessorize a room. Do not do this because it will just crowd the space and make it feel tiny.

    • 3). Lighting is crucial to maximize the use of any space. Choose the appropriate lighting, taking into consideration what the room will be used for and work with that idea.

    • 4). Assuming you are opting to use your space as a living space it is time for some paint. An easy way to update the look of any room is to go with a neutral color such as tan. Painting a room a neutral color gives the room a universal appeal.
