MPC 1000 FAQ
- The MPC 1000 works with mono or stereo WAV files that are 16-bit and 44100 samples per second.
- The MPC 1000 has two balanced quarter-inch analog inputs, six unbalanced quarter-inch analog outputs, one analog headphone output, one coaxial S/PDIF digital input and one output, two MIDI inputs and two outputs, two quarter-inch footswitches, and one USB port.
- Having two MIDI inputs allows users to connect a MIDI controller like a keyboard to one input and another device, like a digital recorder to the other input. This allows for a wider variety of timbres--or sound qualities--to be generated.
- Compact Flash allows users to store programs, songs, sequences and sample offline instead of on a floppy drive or Zip. Compact Flash cards store data without the use of power, and show up as disk drives when hooked up to a computer system. Compact Flash storage is beneficial because the cards have no moving parts and are hard to damage.
- The biggest danger behind removing a storage card while files are being written or read is the potential loss of those files. Further, damage to the files of the device it is plugged into could also occur. It is wise to leave the load/save mode when inserting or removing the storage card, which should be inserted and removed in a proper, gentle manner.
- Turntables may sound quiet when plugged into the MPC 1000 because the MPC 1000 does not come with the necessary RIAA turntable preamp. This preamp is necessary for compensating for the "pre-emphasis" used when making vinyl albums. One option for solving the problem is purchasing turntables with an RIAA preamp built. There are also external preamps on the market that can be hooked up to the MPC 1000.
- You can save FX settings as *.ALL files, which stands for "all sequences and songs." Up to 20 FX settings can be created per song.
