How to Make Petal Cones

    • 1). Lay a sheet of 9-inch-by-11-inch paper in front of you on a flat, clean surface. Tilt it to the left so the longer left edge is on a diagonal, with the lower left corner pointing toward the right side of your stomach. Tear off a three-inch strip of double-stick tape and press it down along the middle of the longer right edge.

    • 2). Grip the lower-left corner of the paper between your thumb and forefinger. Hold down the center of the paper's bottom edge with the first two fingers of your other hand. Bring the lower left corner up and to the right until the lower edge of the paper bumps into the fingers holding it down. Turn the lower-left corner down and in to start your cone.

    • 3). Roll the started cone until the entire sheet of paper is rolled together. Press the upper right edge against the outside of the cone to seal it closed with the double-stick tape. There should be a hollow space at the upper end of the cone large enough to fit your hand inside.

    • 4). Grip the flower petals on your fresh flowers one or two at a time, near the base. Tug gently but firmly until the petals come free. If you pull too hard, the petals may rip. Slip the petals into the paper cones, continuing until all of the cones are full.
