Removing Laminated Armstrong Floors
- 1). Remove the molding around all walls of the room where the Armstrong flooring is installed. Insert a pry bar in between the molding and the wall. Put a piece of thin wood, such as a shim, behind the pry bar so it doesn't damage the wall. Pull out the molding around the perimeter of the room.
- 2). Start in one corner of the room. Melt melt the rubberized sealant that helps hold the flooring in place with a heat gun.
- 3). Insert a chisel or the pry bar into the space between the corner piece of laminate and the piece located at its foot. Pry the two pieces apart with the pry bar so that the corner piece moves toward the wall.
- 4). Pry the corner piece up along the long side, adjacent to the wall. It should snap out of the groove from its immediate neighbor.
- 5). Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the rest of the first row of laminate.
- 6). Scrape it the melted sealant with a putty knife.
- 7). Move to the second row. and continue prying up pieces of laminate. The first piece in each row will be the hardest. Once you have that out of the way, the rest of the pieces in the row should unlock easily.
- 8). Remove the rest of the laminate in the same manner until the room is complete..
- 9). Remove any foam padding and/or moisture barrier on the floor.
