If you're unsure about what to give the couples on your Christmas list, opt for baskets full of goodies rather than individual gifts. Select romantic items for any couple, or put together a theme basket for those whose tastes you know well. Add an extra gift by filling a pretty glass bowl, a canvas storage box or a set of canisters instead of a basket. - Put together a basket that's guaranteed to light the fire of love. Include a bottle of champagne, a corkscrew, chocolate-covered strawberries, a CD of romantic mood music, candles and massage oils. For more light-hearted romance, fill the basket with a bottle of chocolate soda, a soda glass and two straws, a board game for couples, chocolate kisses and wax lips.
- One chick flick, one action movie and a fleece throw for cuddling is the beginning of a movie night couple's basket. Add a few packets of hot chocolate mix, a box of snack crackers and a bag of caramel corn to round it out. Make it a theme basket with movies of one genre such as mysteries or comedies, or choose movies featuring one actor or director.
- Afternoon tea is a rare delight, and your gift basket will help to create a relaxing interlude for a couple. Use a large cloth napkin to line the basket and tuck another napkin inside it. Add an assortment of flavored teas in pretty tins, a porcelain teacup and saucer for her, a sturdy mug for him, a box of shortbread cookies, a box of scone mix and several jars of jam.
