Why Do You Put Fragrances on the Pulse Points?
- Although the pulse can be felt in many places on the body, it is strongest at the points where an artery can be held against a bone. These pulse points include the neck, wrist, knee, inside of the elbow and around the ankle joint.
- Perfumes are a mix of essential oils, alcohols and other extracts. Their properties often are enhanced when warm.
- The pulse points are considered the warmest points on the body. Because perfume's scent is released when warmed, these points are preferable for optimal scent release.
- When perfume is applied specifically to the pulse points on the wrist, it is important to dab the fragrance and allow it to dry. Do not rub the wrists together, as this can destroy the scent's quality.
- Although a person might not typically apply fragrance to the backs of the knees, this is actually a potent spot. Because heat (and therefore the fragrance when applied) rises, applying the fragrance at the backs of the knees can result in a pleasant scent.
- Avoid applying scents to the clothing or hair, as these spots might harm fabric or release unwanted smells, respectively. The pulse points remain the optimal spots for application.
