How to Make a 3-Tone Silhouette in Adobe Photoshop
- 1). Load the image that you want to work with onto the computer. Although you can scan it in from a print, it is best to transfer it from a digital source, such as a camera or SD card.
- 2). Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "Open." In the dialog that pops up, browse to the image that you loaded and open it.
- 3). Select "Image," "Adjustments" and click "Desaturate." This will remove all the color in the photo.
- 4). Select "Filter," "Artistic" and click "Cutout." In the dialog that pops up, set the levels, edge fidelity and edge simplicity at 3. Click "OK."
- 5). Select "Image," "Adjustments" and click "Levels." In the dialog that pops up, move all the sliders together to reduce the variation in the image.
- 6). Select "File" from the menu and click "Save As." In the dialog that pops up, name your file and save it as a high resolution JPEG.
