How to Adjust a John Deere Frontier Rock Rake
- 1). Turn the end plate (the green, metal plate on the side of the rollers) into the forward or rear position. If the end plate is in the forward position, then the box blade is formed, which is used to collect large rocks and debris for disposal. If the end plate is in the rear position (called the storage position), then the rear brake is formed, pushing debris to the side instead.
- 2). Adjust the roll-back barrier. The roll-back barrier controls the strength of the pulverizing mechanism that breaks up the ground. It must be adjusted manually. Raise it to decrease the pulverizing action and leave larger clods, lower it to increase pulverizing power and create a smoother, more even surface.
- 3). Adjust the angle of the rake from the tractor seat by turning the angle-control knob. The angle of the rake is controlled by hydraulic power and can be adjusted to whatever angle you require.
- 4). Adjust the height of the wheels by manually lowering or raising the gauge wheels. Press the small lever beside the wheels to lower or raise them. Each wheel must be lowered or raised separately. Adjusting the height of the wheels controls the depth to which the rake digs into the ground.
