What happened the last time when you click on an article just to find that it consisted of three or four large blocks of text? If I were you, I should have clicked on the browser's back button.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Fortunately, you can increase readership by sculpting a format into your article.
You can actually increase readability just by using proper format.
Nothing turns people off faster than huge blocks of text without any formatting.
Just thinking about reading through the whole thing may discourage them.
Here's a few tips to make your article more readable using the right format: 1.
Concise sentences and paragraphs A paragraph should be at most 4-5 sentences.
Break a long paragraph into two or more smaller paragraphs.
Focus on one thing per paragraph.
Always write in short sentences.
It is far more readable than long a 5-line sentence.
This allows you to introduce a lot of space to the article.
The white spaces are easy on the eyes.
2.
Use bullet points and numbers Bullet points and numbers are there to make it easy for the readers to locate different points in the article.
They can be read separately and are useful for online readers who spend most of their time scanning through content.
They can't do this if it is a large block of text.
3.
Introduce subheadings Subheadings also serve as the rest points for the readers, making the article easier to read.
4.
Use text formatting Bold and italics are common ways to make words stand out within a sentence.
You can use them to make the most important points in the article stand out.
This helps people locate the most important things quickly.
