    Interior of Casement Windows

    • The interior of all casement windows can be painted to complement the interior decor. Casement windows that crank and operate outwards, which is most common, can be trimmed with ornate built-up wood trim moldings that can be stained or painted to enhance the interior decor. Depending on the placement of the operational crank or lever, the windowsill of casement windows can also be trimmed in wood or even in a cut slab of marble or granite that can be extended beyond the width of the sill to create a deeper ledge that is easy to clean and suitable for plants, decorative accessories or a lounging cat. In historical homes interior and exterior sills have also been trimmed in glazed tiles and brick veneer to add visual interest and period detail.

    Exterior of Casement Windows

    • The exterior of casement windows, be they crafted from wood, metal or vinyl, can usually be painted with the proper primer and paint for the material. Complementary or contrasting colors can be used for the casement trim to blend or stand out from the building facade. The exterior casement trim can also be faux finished to resemble more expensive and sophisticated metals finishes such as verdigris, aged copper or oxidized bronze.
