Homemade Ice Fishing Shack
- 1). Build frame and floor. Depending on how big you wish your shack to be, begin by building a square frame out of 2 x 4 lumber. Nail the joists inside, spacing them every two feet from one side. Sheathe the floor with plywood or 1 x 6 fence boards or plywood. Leave hole in the floor to enable a hole be cut in the ice below.
- 2). Build walls and roof. Depending on the height of your shack, nail a 2 x 4 to each corner of the platform. Place studs of the same length every two feet on each of the four sides.
- 3). Sheathe the walls and roof and fashion a doorway. Use a durable tarp or plywood to sheathe the walls. Leave an open spot for a doorway, which can be made from extra wood or tarp. The roof can be covered with plywood or tarp.
