How to Battle Mosquitoes

    • 1). Locate mosquito breeding areas on your property. Mosquitoes breed in water, and so standing water becomes a breeding ground for the pests. Standing water may exist in your bird baths, stagnant ponds and even water that accumulates in the gutters on your home or in items on your property.

    • 2). Eliminate as many sources of standing water as possible. Place mosquito dunks in any areas of standing water you cannot drain or otherwise remove. Mosquito dunks are a non-toxic product that can be dissolved in standing water to prevent mosquito larvae from breeding and developing into adult mosquitoes. Dunks last approximately 30 days and will have to be replaced as necessary during mosquito season to maintain effectiveness.

    • 3). Put mosquito traps out in areas where your mosquito problem is the most severe. Mosquito traps will trap and kill live mosquitoes on your property.

    • 4). Spray mosquito repellent on yourself and in the areas where your mosquito problem is mild to severe.

    • 5). Maintain your property by keeping standing water at a minimum and your yard and property clean and neatly maintained. You will have fewer problems with mosquitoes if they have fewer places to breed and live.
