How to Design Your Own Costume for a Fairy Ball as a Pagan Adult
- 1). Select a full-slip of a solid color to use as the base of your fairy pagan costume. This slip can be either thigh-length or knee-length. Slips can be obtained in the lingerie section of most clothing stores and come in a wide selection of tones. If you want to be a forest fairy, shades of green add to this look. Shades of blue add to the look of a sea fairy, and shades of gold, bronze and other tones can be experimented with as well.
- 2). Use assorted stencils and a marker to make designs on a sheet of fabric that contrasts with the color of your slip. For instance, if your slip is black for a nighttime fairy, create stenciled designs on silver, gold or other shimmery fabric. Leaves, stars, hearts and other designs are adequate, but you can create any designs you want with stencils and fabric.
Cut the designs out with scissors. - 3). Cut a 4-foot length of tulle from the roll. Roll the fabric in the same style as you would fold a paper fan. Do this horizontally, so you're left with a 4-foot-long folded structure. Pin the center of the folded material with a brooch, holding it together at the center only.
- 4). Adhere the cut-out fabric embellishments to the bust of your slip with fabric glue. Adhere some to the hip and behind area as well. Use as many pieces of shaped fabric as needed to create layered affects, using fabric glue.
- 5). Flip the adorned slip over and adhere the tulle-folded structure to the back center, in the area that would rest between your shoulder blades. Use the brooch to pin through the tulle and through the slip to achieve this. The tulle serves as your wings after you fan the ends with your fingers.
