How to Design a Simple Circuit
- 1). Diagram the circuit. Use common symbols to represent each piece of the circuit. A battery is often represented by a rectangle labeled "battery." Wires are straight lines. The light bulb is a circle with a squiggle in the middle. Draw wires leading from the battery to the light bulb and back again.
- 2). Connect the end of one wire to the positive ("+") terminal of the battery; connect the other end of this wire to a terminal on the light bulb.
- 3). Connect the end of the second wire to the negative ("-") terminal of the battery; connect the other end of this wire to the open terminal on the light bulb. The light bulb should light, completing the circuit.
