Picture of Santa Brigida Church in the Piazza Farnese

What kind of name is Brigida for a Roman? Well, Santa Brigida of Sweden stayed on this location in Rome in the 14th century, so a church was built on the site. Clement XI rebuilt it in the 18th century. It was once the Swedish Hospice.

The Sisters of St. Brigida run a convent hotel on Via Monserato 54, just off the Piazza Farnese. It's not cheap, but rooms cost less than similar hotels. Many people recommend the experience and the Sisters will cook well for you if you ask for pensione completa (3 meals) or mezza pensione (2 meals).

Reserve well ahead for summer.
