How to Use an HDV (High Definition Video) Camera
- 1). Set your camera to its HD recording setting, if it lets you change that setting. It should be easily alterable from the screen interface of the camera.
- 2). Access the options screen of your HD camera through the interface screen when not recording video. Change the settings for resolution, frame rate and scan. If you have an HD television and want to watch recordings there, set your resolution to that of your television. If your shots are going to require a lot of movement, keep your frame rate high. Set your shutter rate to match your frame rate.
- 3). Focus your camera on your shot, first by zooming appropriately and then by rotating the lens. The zoom buttons are generally clearly visible on the side of the camera. Rotate the lens to change the depth and focus of your picture. Practice using different positions to see what you prefer.
- 4). Purchase a glass filter over a plastic filter, if filters are in your budget. Filters give various effects to shots and can clarify rough edges. Plastic filters are often too noticeable when shooting in HD.
