Radiator Removal

• 1). Take your LHS vehicle to a shop facility in order to discharge its air conditioning system. (This part of the job must be performed by a mechanic.)
  
  
• 2). Detach the ground (black) battery cable, using a wrench.
  
  
• 3). Slide a drain pan under the radiator, on the right-hand side, in the direction of the drain valve. Loosen the coolant reservoir cap, open the drain valve, by hand, and let the coolant drain completely.
  
  
• 4). Remove the radiator side panel, using a ratchet and deep socket, then remove the passenger's side headlamp module from its mounting adapter, using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  
  
• 5). Take the upper radiator crossmember off with a ratchet and deep socket, then disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses, using a pair of rib joint pliers.
  
  
• 6). Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the radiator, using a line wrench, then remove the air conditioning system hoses from the condenser unit, located behind the radiator, using the pair of rib joint pliers. Cover the lines and hoses with clean plastic sheets and secure them with rubber bands to prevent contamination of the systems.
  
  
• 7). Unplug the fan's electrical connector and unfasten the upper radiator mounting bolts, using the ratchet and deep socket. Carefully lift the radiator, condenser and cooling fan (as a single assembly from the engine bay) with the help of an assistant.
  
  
• 8). Lay the radiator assembly on a work bench. Detach the condenser and cooling fan from the radiator, using a ratchet and socket.
  
  

Installing the New Radiator

• 1). Secure the condenser and cooling fan to the new radiator with the ratchet and socket. Make sure the drain valve is closed.
  
  
• 2). Lower the radiator assembly in place inside the engine bay, with the help of an assistant. Fasten the upper radiator mounting bolts with the ratchet and deep socket and plug the fan electrical connector.
  
  
• 3). Connect the air conditioning system hoses to the condenser, using the pair of rib joint pliers, then connect the oil cooler lines to the radiator, using the line wrench.
  
  
• 4). Reinstall the upper and lower radiator hoses, using the pair of rib joint pliers, then replace the upper radiator crossmember, using the ratchet and deep socket.
  
  
• 5). Reinstall the passenger's side headlamp module, using the Phillips-head screwdriver, then reconnect the radiator side panel, using the ratchet and deep socket.
  
  
• 6). Tighten the coolant reservoir cap and refill the cooling system. Mix antifreeze and distilled water in the proper ratio for the climate in your region.
  
  
• 7). Reattach the ground (black) battery cable, using a wrench.
  
  
• 8). Take your LHS vehicle to a shop facility in order to recharge its air conditioning system.
