Shinko Tires, a Japanese company, is one of the leading manufacturers of motorcycle tires. It started its operations in Osaka, Japan in 1946 as a manufacturer of bicycle tires and tubes. In 1998 they bought Yokohama Rubber company's motorcycle tire establishment marking the beginning of manufacturing of the Shinko line of motorcycle tires.

Shinko designs its tires in Japan but outsources manufacturing process to China and South Korea. Today, Shinko's tire production is estimated to be 200,000 in Korea and 300,000 in China monthly on their line of Dual sport, Cruiser, Off road, Sportbike and Scooter tires. 4wheelonline.com is the main retailer of the Shinko line of motorcycle tires in the United States.

Shinko Dual sport tires

These are tires designed for high performance. They serve the adventurous riders who enjoy riding on the road and on terrains alike. They are of radial 4-ply construction, tubeless and the rubber compound withstands wear especially while riding on terrain, radiating a much desired mileage at an affordable price. They provide good handling on both wet and dry surfaces. It has an excellent traction during off-road trips though it loses lugs.

Shinko Cruiser tires

This range of tires is designed to appeal to both modern and classic bikes. It has a 4-ply, belted construction for optimum performance. This is a range designed for tarmac, it's made of a soft compound hence provides excellent grip not to mention its trajectory and cornering properties. The wide tread patch provides balance, good traction on wet and dry roads. Though tubeless, it has an airtight rim to prevent deflation. In contrast, use of soft material compromises the durability of the tire.

Shinko Off road tires

This is a range for a sportier ride. It has been designed to excel in all kinds of terrain. It is a springy, durable and can withstand a hefty load capacity. It moves smoothly on trails. Additionally, it does not need a lot of effort when on mud or clay surfaces.
Shinko Sportbike tires
Drag strip and street riders will appreciate the output of this range which was designed for a straight line ride. This is a good value range of tires whose cornering and dry/wet grip is outstanding. The dry traction is amazing, however, the same cannot be said of wet traction. Its balance is also considered to be a bit off. Overall, it does well at high speeds.

Shinko Scooter tires

This is a 4-ply tube type with a tough nylon carcass designed for street riding. They have high speed ratings, 75mph. It has better cornering, good dry traction and is easy to install. Nonetheless, the wet traction is not great.

Shinko offers an affordable line of motorcycle tires which have a high performance compared to other tires available on the market. The integration of Japanese design and Korean manufacturing technology ensure that the tires are of good quality and are durable. The strengths of these tires heavily outweigh their weaknesses. In conclusion, I would say they are worth trying whichever your type of bike.
