Definition:

Sleet is formed when drops of rain or partly melted snowflakes freeze into ice before they hit the ground (as compared to freezing rain, where the raindrops don't turn to ice until they hit the ground.) Sleet often falls with rain and snow. Sleet can be dangerous and make walking and driving hazardous. Sleet is easily visible though, so it is not quite as treacherous as freezing rain.
