How to Decorate Chinese Tables
- 1). Cover the table with a red tablecloth. Drape a gold satin runner along the center of the table. This eye-catching color combination is symbolic of the Chinese culture; red represents good luck and gold stands for good fortune.
- 2). Create a centerpiece that incorporates elements significant to the Chinese culture. For example, set a decorative Chinese dragon in the center of the table. Another option is to place red lanterns in the middle of the table. Surround the centerpiece with tea lights to draw the eye to the decoration. Both dragons and lanterns are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.
- 3). Set bamboo place mats at each place setting. Bamboo is another element that is believed to bring good luck in the Chinese culture.
- 4). Top the place mats with plain, white porcelain plates or decorative China, whatever suits your taste.
