.22 Caliber
The Ruger Mark III is a semi-automatic pistol that uses .22 caliber bullets. The weapon is manufactured by Sturm, Ruger and Company based in Southport, Connecticut. The Ruger Mark III entered service in 2004 and replaced the previous Ruger Mark III pistol. The Mark III model is similar in design to previous versions of the weapon.
However, the Mark III has a different chamber and adjustable sight.
The receiver and barrel of the Ruger Mark III are made from one piece of steel that is about 10 inches long and the gun resembles a "Luger" in appearance. Some people refer to the Mark III as a "modern day Luger." Soldiers commonly refer to the gun as simply the "Mark Three." The gun is most commonly issued to military officers as a sidearm. But it is also carried by some rank-and-file soldiers as well.
