How to Install a Laserjet 3030 Printer
- 1). Plug the printer's power cord into a wall outlet. It's best to use a surge protector to protect the printer from electrical fluctuations, but it can also be plugged directly into the outlet. If the printer's fax capabilities will be utilized, connect its fax port to a telephone jack using a standard phone cable. Turn the unit on by pressing the power button on the printer's control panel. Connect one end of the USB cable to an available USB port on the computer, but do not plug the other end into the printer yet. The installer will prompt you when it is the right time to do so.
- 2). Insert the installation CD into the computer's disk drive. Normally, the installer will run automatically after the computer has had a moment to recognize the disk. If it fails to load, you can manually initiate installation by directly clicking your CD drive. On a Windows-based system, this can be accessed from "My Computer."
- 3). Follow the on-screen instructions, clicking "Next" as necessary. You will have to accept HP's Terms of Service to begin. After the configuration files have been copied, the installer will prompt you to hook the printer to the computer. At this point, connect the other end of the USB cable to the printer, completing the connection. The installer will automatically recognize the printer, and will complete the installation process. The printer has now been fully installed.
