Color Changes

• Raynaud's phenomenon causes toes and fingers to change colors when the patient is exposed to cold or feeling strong emotions. The digits typically turn white, then blue and then turn red as the blood flow returns.
  
  

Pain

• Raynaud's phenomenon sufferers often feel pain when their affected digits are exposed to the cold. Some Raynaud's patients feel a tingling sensation as their fingers or toes warm up again.
  
  

Other Symptoms

• Other common symptoms of Raynaud's phenomenon include pale skin and skin inflammation on the affected fingers and toes.
  
  

Duration

• Raynaud's phenomenon symptoms can last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
  
  

Types

• Primary Raynaud's phenomenon typically affects both feet and both hands, and the cause is still unknown. Secondary Raynaud's phenonoman generally affects either both feet or both hands, and is typically caused by migraine, blood or heart medications.
  
  

Causes

• Certain injuries can also cause Raynaud's phenomenon, such as frostbite or surgery. Activities involving repetitive movement, such as frequent typing or piano playing, might also trigger the onset of this condition.
