    • 1). Print these directions before proceeding because you will have to restart your computer.

    • 2). Click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel." Double-click "System" and click the "System Restore" tab. Place a check on "Turn Off System Restore" and click "OK." Restart your computer.

    • 3). Launch your anti-virus program, if you have one installed, and click the "Update" button to install the latest virus and spyware updates. If you do not have one, download and install AVG Antivirus free (see Resources). Launch your program after the install and click the "Update" button on the left panel to install any available updates.

    • 4). Click "Full Scan" to scan all folders, registries and files for W32.Trats. When the scan is complete, delete all the detected W32.Trats files.

    • 5). Click the Windows "Start" menu. Click "Run" and type "%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" (without quotes), and then click "OK." Click "Create a restore point" on the "Welcome to System Restore Page" and click "Next." Type in a name for your restore point and click "Create." Click "Close." This will back up the registry and the system.

    • 6). Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Run." Type "regedit" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to open the registry window.

    • 7). Click the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder on the right and click "Software." Click "Microsoft" and click "Windows NT." Click "CurrentVersion" and click "Windows." Restore "load" = "[RANDOM CHARACTERS].exe" back to its original value.

    • 8). Click the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" on the left panel and click "SYSTEM." Click "CurrentControlSet" and click "Control." Click "Lsa." Restore "Notification Packages" = "scecli [RANDOM CHARACTERS].dll" back to its orignal value.
