    • 1). Forward spoof email or fake website URLs to the FTC at spam@uce.gov. You can also forward the message to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, a global business group fighting spoofing and other risks to businesses on the Internet. Its email is reportphishing@antiphishing.org.

    • 2). File a report with the FTC by using its online complaint form or call the FTC Theft Hotline at 1-877-ID-THEFT (438-4338). Print the complaint form so you can add it to a police report.

    • 3). File a complaint with your state's Attorney General's Office. Also, find out what protections your state offers. Some states offer a credit freeze or allow you to restrict access to your credit report so a scammer cannot open a new account in your name.

    • 4). Contact your local police department and file a report. Get a copy of the report for your records or get the report number to add to your records about the scam.
