The second options, which is recommended, is to use an online database for criminal history background checks.
As long as you have the name of the person, a birth date, and a social security number you can do a full background check including all 50 states for a very reasonable price.
This is something I would never over look when hiring a new employee at my business or around my home, especially with contractors.
