    • 1). Open the sliding window, and place the platform supplied with the air conditioner across the windowsill so the back of the platform sticks outside the window. Place the support brace supplied with the air conditioner under the platform and against the outside of the house. Locate the mounting hole on the platform that allows the brace to rest at a 45-degree angle to the platform and allows the platform to slope downward 3/16 inch. Secure the platform and brace together with the nut supplied with the air conditioner and a wrench.

    • 2). Measure inward with a tape measure 8 11/16 inches from the edge of the window jamb, and scribe a line with a pencil from the front to the back of the windowsill. This will mark the mounting location for the platform.

    • 3). Center the platform over the line in a position that allows the brace to press firmly against the outside of the house. Drill pilot holes with a 9/64-inch drill bit and hand drill, using the holes in the platform as locators.

    • 4). Remove the protective backing from the track seal, and then place the seal directly in front of the window track, inside the house. This prevents water from getting into the house past the window track. The track seal is provided with the air conditioner.

    • 5). Place a 1-inch-thick siding protection board on the outside of the wall where the brace for the platform will mount. Secure the siding protection board to the wall with 2-inch wood screws.

    • 6). Place the platform over the windowsill, and line up the holes you drilled. Secure the platform to the windowsill and siding protection board with the screws supplied with the air conditioner. Again, the outside of the platform must slope down 3/16 inch.

    • 7). Measure the height of the window from the platform with a tape measure. Subtract 20 5/8 inches from the measurement. Transfer the total to the plastic window trim provided with the air conditioner. Cut off the excess trim with a hacksaw, and then use 600-grit sandpaper to remove any plastic burrs left from the cutting process.

    • 8). Secure the side channels supplied with the air conditioner to the sides of the air conditioner with the supplied screws. Line up the pre-drilled screw holes. You will locate three holes on each side.

    • 9). Slide the plastic window panel provided with the air conditioner onto the panel frame. Slide the panel frame onto the channels you just secured to the air conditioner.

    • 10

Cut the side channel seal into equal lengths with a utility knife, and then remove the protective cover off the seal. Stick the seal along the back edge of the panel frame. Wrap the excess along the bottom of the air conditioner.

    • 11

Place the air conditioner into the window frame and rest it on the platform. The air conditioner must rest with the frame panel pressed against the window jamb.

    • 12

Slide the inner window sash firmly against the side of the air conditioner to hold it in place. Secure the window sash to the air conditioner with #8 ¾-inch self-tapping screws. Use the partially plugged holes in the air conditioner to line up the screws.

    • 13

Place the safety bracket over the air conditioner, and hook it onto the front of the platform. Use #8 ¾-inch self-tapping screws to secure the safety bracket to the platform.

    • 14

Place the foam seal between the side of the air conditioner and the sliding window. Slide the window firmly against the side of the air conditioner.

    • 15

Place the locking tab provided with the air conditioner at the end of the window frame that presses up against the air conditioner, and secure the locking bracket to the widow frame with the supplied screws. This prevents the window from coming open.
