Delusional Parasitosis Or Do You Have Mites?

Delusional Parasitosis is a psychotic medical condition in which patients believe they have parasites living on or under their skin.
It is a form of psychosis which actually means a mental state that has a loss of connection to reality.
Also known as Ekbom Syndrome, those suffering from this condition have the sensations of tingling, crawling and biting of bugs that are not visible because if this diagnosis is correct, no such parasites exist.
Can you imagine the horror of feeling bugs crawling on your skin, biting you, then the sensations of itching and/or pain being caused by...
nothing? Can you imagine how difficult it must be to actually FEEL these sensations and have no one believe you and even worse - tell you that you are nuts? Welcome to the world of people infested with mites.
Rat mites and Bird mites are microscopic parasites that occur in nature on a variety of hosts.
Rat mites prefer rodents and bird mites prefer birds but if an animal happens to camp out in your home and then leave a population of mites behind, they are going to come looking for a food source and humans will do just fine.
If you are in the dreadful position of having mites, your life will change drastically.
Not only will you have horrible itching, but you will have sensations of bugs crawling on your skin and can even have rashes forming all over your body.
To make it as bad as it can be, they are more active at night which means right as you are about to get the sleep you so desperately need, they go to town.
Now you are itching and miserable AND sleep deprived! Your mind races and your symptoms push you to the edge of sanity.
And then your doctor says you're nuts? AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Mites are VERY real and because they can't be seen with a human eye, they are a perfect opportunity for a doc to diagnose Delusional Parasitosis.
But sensing these bites is not a disconnect from reality as these tiny little creatures ARE crawling on your skin.
They ARE biting you.
You DO have evidence of bites.
The only way to accurately diagnose is with a high powered microscope - far more powerful than high school science lab microscopes.
So without a defendable diagnosis, it is best to go ahead and treat.
If you use a mite killer (not an insecticide) that is safe and eco-friendly, you have nothing to lose.
If for some reason it doesn't work, then you could have some other underlying medical condition and after ruling that out, seriously consider that it could be made up in your mind as they do have meds for that.
But a safe product cannot hurt anything and seems the perfect troubleshooting solution to try to treat.
If it is mites and you use an effective product, they will be gone.
And that will be your new reality.
