How to Get the most Money for your totaled car
- 1
Call your Insurance company and make a date with the adjuster to look at your car. Set a time you can be there. - 2
Research the value of your car. Find out what your car was worth before the accident. Also find out what scrap value is if you want to buy back the car to repair or use. Know ahead of time what you will accept for your car. - 3
Clean the car. Wash and polish your car if possible. I lost $300.00 in value for oxidized paint. And 250.00 for soiled interior. Both of these things could have been cleaned at a minimum expense. - 4). When cleaning be careful not to remove evidence. Paint marks, tire rubs, glass chips. Leave that there for the adjuster to see.
Of course if your car is a complete disaster it will probably be at a tow yard and you won't have much access. - 5). Remove all of your stuff. Check under the seats in the spare tire compartment any where you can think of.
- 6). Be there when the adjuster is walking the car. Talk to him/her.
- 7). Be ready for the offer with a price in mind. Have your title in hand. I got my check on the spot after settling on a value and signing the title.
