How to Backup an Xbox 360 HDD

    Individual Files

    • 1). Connect a USB memory device to any of the USB ports on your Xbox 360 console.

    • 2). Power on your Xbox 360 by pressing the "Guide" button on the center of any controller synced to the console.

    • 3). Scroll to the "My Xbox" section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard (home menu).

    • 4). Choose "System Settings."

    • 5). Choose "Memory."

    • 6). Select "Hard Drive" from the list of storage devices.

    • 7). Choose which type of data you want to back up to the USB memory device.

    • 8). Choose the file you want copied to the USB memory device.

    • 9). Select "Copy."

      Select the USB memory device as the copy location.

    Multiple Files

    • 1). Follow Step 1 through 6 from Section 1 above.

    • 2). Press the "Y" button on the controller to initiate the File Transfer Wizard.

    • 3). Select the USB memory device as the destination.

    • 4). Choose the types of data to be transferred to the USB memory device. Deselect entire data types by pressing "X" on the controller. Highlight a type and press "A" to examine and edit the files to be transferred individually.

    • 5). Highlight the "Start" option and press the "A" button on the controller to begin the data transfer.
