How to Connect EMT to IMC or Rigid

    • 1). Turn the round end of a combination coupling counterclockwise by hand until it slides onto the end of a rigid conduit. Twist the coupling to allow you the best access to the two screws located on the clamp side of the coupling. Push and hold the coupling in place with one hand.

    • 2). Tighten the round end of the combination coupling by turning it clockwise with a pair of channel locking pliers.

    • 3). Loosen the two screws of the clamp end of the coupling by turning them counterclockwise with a flathead screwdriver. Pull up on the top section of the clamp to open the clamp section. Push one end of a length of flexible EMT or IMC into the open clamp, ensuring it seats completely against the inside of the coupling.

    • 4). Tighten the two clamp screws by turning them clockwise with a flathead screwdriver to lock the flexible conduit in position.
