Alain Robert, the French climber known as Spiderman has now set his sights on climbing the worlds tallest tower - Burj Khalifa. He plans to climb the 828m tallest building of the world in Dubai early 2011 without ropes or a harness.
Mr Robert, speaking at a climbing awards ceremony in Malaysia, said the glistening 828m tower was a challenge he could not resist.
"I'll have to do it… maybe between January and April 2011. I know the people of Dubai, they are interested (in seeing me climb the skyscraper)," he said.
Mr Robert first climbed his eight-floor apartment at 12 years of age after forgetting his keys, and has since climbing more than 100 giant building across the globe with his bare hands and shoes. His best climbs include the Petronas Twin Towers, Taiwan's Taipei 101, the Eiffel Tower in France, the Empire State building in New York and the Sears Tower in Chicago.
And now Mr Robert has made up his mind to climb Burj Khalifa, which was officially unveiled on 4th January 2010.
"I will do many other climbs in between ... I know the people of Dubai, they are interested (in seeing him scale the Burj Khalifa), but I do not know when they will allow me to make that attempt," the New Straits Times Online quoted Robert as telling Bernama,
"...also the problem in Dubai is the hot weather (of) up to 40 degree Celcius, it doesn't seem that I'll be able to do it ... then, I'll have to do it in another year, maybe in between January and April 2011," he added.
