5 Guidelines to help you Create Your Freestyle Lyrics
If you are a freestyle rapper, you are going to use the right area of your brain to generate your freestyle raps. So let me give several tips to the right side of the brain that will give that creativity a jolt.
Tip #1 - Take Some Time To Prepare A Artistic Work area
What exactly do I mean here? Take the time to create a workspace that can energize the right side of your brain. I think of my workspace as being similar to a garden. When you are planting a garden, there is a lot of preliminary work to accomplish. You don't just throw the seeds into a hole, cover it and wait for seeds to grow. First thing you have to do is to get the soil ready. You'll turn the soil and eliminate any kind of old weeds and plants. You then will fertilize the soil and water it. Once that is completed, you may dig the holes and put the seeds or plants in it.
The same is true of your workspace. Consider the garden as the right side of your brain. Firstly you have to cultivate it. You will create a workspace that you could work in. For me, I am going to have it as comfy as possible. I will make sure that I have music to listen to. I will probably have something that is very comfortable for me to sit in. At any rate this is the beginning of your creative process.
Tip #2 - Go To Your Workspace and Study
The question you may be asking is what am I supposed to study? You should study whatever you can get your hands on that is related to song writing. You want to study your favorite songs. I like to suggest that you also study tunes that you really don't like. Determine what it is that you don't like about the songs. Is it the lyrics? Is it the rhythm? These may be some things that you like to think about when writing your songs or raps. Look at your favorite songwriters. Study the themes, metaphors, rhyming schemes and any other parts of a lyric. Look for ideas, stories that are being told and what they are trying to tell the listener. So set aside some time each day to do some studying.
Tip #3 - Start Composing
Now you can study to your hearts content, and it is a necessary step to take. You'll still want to make sure that you don't just study. You have to make sure that you get busy and start doing some writing. Even if you can't think of anything to write, you still need to write. If you are at a dead end, just write words down. You will be surprised at how your thoughts will start to flow.
Tip #4 - Produce Your Own Lyrics
Take a music that you know and really like and compose your personal lyrics. Take a tune that is sad and rewrite the tune to make it a cheerful or happy tune. Take a happy tune and turn it into a sad song. These are just a couple of ideas that will get your creative juices as well as the right side of your brain working.
Tip #5 - Let Somebody else Review Your Work
Find somebody else to check out your work. Ask them to give you a couple of constructive criticism. Make sure that you listen to the criticism with an open mind. Do not take any of the criticism personally.
The task which you have taken, that is to write your own lyrics is not usually the easiest thing to do. You may have occasions that nothing appears to sound right or perhaps you just find it hard to get it. At other times, you will discover that the lyrics are really flowing. Either way, make an effort to commit yourself to the task at end. With that commitment will come the success that you are seeking.
