How to Lock a Wardrobe
- 1). Lock the doors of the wardrobe with the key if it is fitted with a basic lock and take the key with you. This may stop people from going through your clothes, but it is not enough to stop a determined thief.
- 2). Fit a hasp lock onto the door, using an electric drill to screw the pieces in place on the corresponding doors. A hasp lock is a two-piece hinge lock. One half is a hinge with a hole in it and the other half fits on the other door with a ring for the padlock. Make sure the pieces are at the same level and the correct distance apart so they fit together. Normally the hinging part goes on the left door and the looped part on the right door. These are designed so the screws cannot be undone when a padlock is on the door.
- 3). Maneuver the hinge over the loop and secure it in place with a padlock.
- 4). Lock the padlock or use the combination and leave your possessions unsupervised in relative safety.
