Cologne Airport's History
The airport was originally built in 1939 as a base for the German Luftwaffe. Cologne airport was taken over by the British RAF after the Second World War who then expanded it and constructed a new runway. In 1951 saw the first civilian flights from the airport and in the 1960's two runways and another terminal was constructed. By the end of the 1990's another new terminal was built at the airport.

To and From airport
There are buses that can take passengers to Bonn in 30 minutes. The S-Bahn rail link can take passengers from the airport to Cologne and only takes 15 minutes.
